The GoDaddy CEO & The Moral Decision

GoDaddy CEO Bob Parsons is drawing harsh criticism for a video he shot while on vacation in Zimbabwe depicting him shooting and killing an elephant. Parsons claims the hunt was for humanitarian reasons, to stop a so-called ‘problem elephant’ from destroying crops outside a village in Zimbabwe.

“[Zimbabweans] have very little,” says Parsons. “Many die each year from starvation and one of the problems they have is the elephants, of which there are thousands and thousands, that trash many of their fields destroying the crops.”

Many disagree. One issue seems to be the way the hunt is presented. The horror movie music, the photos of Parsons smiling in front of the Elephant carcass, the graphic shots of villagers in GoDaddy.com hats butchering the elephant to the tune of AC/DC’s “Hells Bells?” To pull something like this off you have to appear reserved and respectful, not giddy and ruthless. Parsons fails miserably.

Only Bob Parsons truly knows whether he killed the elephant for humanitarian reasons. Either way, he needs a new video editor, and an attitude adjustment. Either way, this video irks the viewer the wrong way by creating a very Bounty Hunter-esque way of being a humanitarian.

So in conclusion, next time you choose a domain manager and hosting program, go with a moral decision.  Another article on the matter can be found at The Huffington Post
